Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark

The Eastbourne Academy are extremely proud to have achieved the Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark. Being a dyslexia friendly school means we are a fully inclusive school and we see every student as an individual and recognise their strengths and weaknesses. We then work hard to support them in fulfilling their potential.  "There is nothing so unfair as the equal treatment of unequal people." Thomas Jefferson

SSAT Educational Outcomes Award

The Eastbourne Academy has received national recognition for the value it adds to students’ achievements at GCSE.

SSAT, the Schools, Students and Teachers Network, recently undertook its annual in-depth analysis of official Department for Education data on all state-funded schools in England and identified The Eastbourne Academy’s success.

The school has qualified for an SSAT Educational Outcomes Award by being in the top 20% of schools nationally for progress made by pupils between their key stage 2 results at primary school and their GCSE results at age 16.

Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT said:

‘The Eastbourne Academy should be congratulated for their exceptional achievement. They have proved themselves to be leading the field in improving GCSE outcomes for their students. There is so much good practice that this school could share, and I hope they will join us at the celebration evening for the chance to network and share strategies with award-winning schools.

‘These results are a testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at The Eastbourne Academy, and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expectations and ambition for every young person. I am proud that this school is a member of the SSAT network.

Healthy School

The Healthy Schools Programme provides a whole school approach which contributes towards raising achievement and provides opportunities to enhance the health and wellbeing of students, staff and the wider community. Achieving National Healthy Schools status provides rigorous evidence for Ofsted to see how we are meeting the five national outcomes for children and young people highlighted in Every Child Matters.

The programme builds upon what we are already doing and complements our other initiatives to promote PSHE, physical activity, healthy eating and emotional health and well- being.

ICT Mark

As an Academy involved in a wide range of initiatives, we have found that the ICT Mark has helped us demonstrate an effective use of digital technology. The ICT Mark has widespread benefits across many aspects of school life; technology reaches deeply into the work of our school and the ICT Mark process has ensured that we have thought through how it can contribute most effectively. Given the substantial and ongoing investment in technology we have made, there is arguably no better way to ensure that we are making the best use of that commitment.

Investors in People Accreditation

The Investors in People Accreditation sits at the heart of what we do. We’re talking real improvement. Gaining Accreditation involves a simple series of steps that helps us think deeper about our Academy, find areas we want to address and take action. And it’s all built around making the most our biggest asset – our staff.  A respected stamp of quality worldwide, this Standard shows that we care, it shows our parents we are different and it shows our competitors that we've got the edge.
